Hi, I'm Emma
Should really have published this one first, but hey! I'm new to this and to be honest I'm still trying to work out how the software works. So here it is, better late than never BLOG #1 (published as #4) - enjoy!
The word ‘Blog’ fills me with dread and lets not even go there with ‘Vlog’. However the time has come and I can no longer ignore what is staring me in the face, it’s time to start writing my BLOG! So, this is the ‘let me introduce myself blog’.
For those who don’t know me, I’m a very friendly, kind (not my words, see testimonials on my website) and pretty straight talking midwife. At this point you’ll either stop reading immediately or have visions of Call The Midwife.
I consider myself to be extremely privileged to have the title Registered Midwife after my name. I came to midwifery fairly late on and having already had a variety of jobs and raised a family. I’m a mum of 2 (girl & boy), who have now grown up and flown the nest, although our son has recently returned. It’s amazing to have him home but I think its temporary. I mean who wants to live with 2 middle-aged parents?
Happily married to Alex, who is the business guru and keeps me on track. He even at times offers midwifery advice based on his extensive knowledge of “Dr Quinn Medicine Woman”
Oh, and we mustn’t forget our dog Meg, who at 14 is starting to slow down a bit. But hey, aren’t we all!
So, what is this blog going to be about? It’s going to be about me (not in the slightest narcissistic), and my life as an independent midwife. It’ll include the every day challenges and successes of running my own business, the stories of the families I run into (edited for confidentiality of course) and I’ll throw in some clinical stuff. I’m no “Dr Google” (pet hate) but I am a qualified midwife and certified Daisy Foundation trainer, so hopefully some of this stuff will be of use and interest.
And of course a blog should be entertaining (according to a book I’m reading) and leave you wanting to come back for more. Hmmm, I may need more than a little help on that bit. Em xxx
